GymNiceTic reported that Japanese megastar Kohei Uchimura will NOT be competing at next month’s American Cup in Jacksonville, Florida, though a reason was not given.

That leaves a spot open for an additional gymnast. Any guesses on who it will be?

I’m hoping it will be 2011 Winter Cup Champion Jake Dalton or 2010 National Silver-Medallist and World Team Member Danell Lleyva (both of the USA).

This year’s American Cup seems to be the most competitive since the late 1990s. Hopefully this  will be the turning point where the SCAMerican Cup becomes a real competition and will be respected as such.
