University of Utah senior Kyndal Robarts of San Marcos, Texas will be returning to compete for the Utes in 2012 as a Red-shirt fifth-year senior.

Robarts sustained a knee injury in the warm-ups of the Utes meet at Nebraska back in January and has been unable to compete since the injury. Utah coaches Greg and Megan Marsden announced via a press release today that Robarts will not be healthy enough to compete in the post-season this year, including the Regional meet in Norman, Oklahoma and the NCAA Championships in Cleveland, Ohio.

In light of her inability to compete beyond the first two meets (at home against UCLA and at the University of Georgia), Robarts has petitioned to red-shirt.

I know I am excited to see Robarts around for another year in Salt Lake City, especially with the University of Utah joining the Pac-12 next season.

The Pac-12 will be an amazing conference when the University of Utah and the University of Colorado join the conference for the 2011-2012 season. Gymnastics will be phenomenal. In addition to the University of Utah, there will be UCLA, Stanford, Washington, Oregon State, California-Berkeley, Arizona and Arizona State, bringing the conference to EIGHT teams, four of which are some of the strongest teams in the nation. I can’t wait!
